Love Letters to Turbulence is an interdisciplinary project exploring healing after trauma, offering creative opportunities to re/imagine ideas of identity through re/considering. This Digital Container is a co-created, interactive environment for sharing autobiographical narratives relating to trauma, the effects and affects it may have in and on our bodies over time, and how we may choose to heal.
Love Letters to Turbulence is for survivors and supporters, offering a collaborative, respectful, and safe(r)/safe-enough space that is inclusive of all the voices that choose to speak, and witness; all identities are welcome, including 2SLGBTQIA+, IBPOC, Mad, d/Deaf, and crip.
You’re invited to anonymously share one or more autobiographical narratives, read previously shared narratives, and/or re/share a previously shared narrative from a new perspective.
To contribute, you can choose from the following prompts: Trauma Experienced by You, What Support Feels Like, and Healing Act Done by You. Please interpret these prompts however you like, and/or understand, them to be.
To protect mutual safety, privacy, and anonymity, please leave out specific names, identification details, and/or locations. All contributions will be reviewed before being shared to make sure they meet these guidelines. Once confirmed the guidelines are met, they will be shared via random automation.
If you find engaging with this work to be overwhelming, please consider practising a method of self-care and/or contacting a friend, peer, partner, family member, counsellor, crisis centre, and/or support resource you may find helpful.
We recognize ‘Survivor' is not a term everyone uses. If that word doesn’t feel right for you, please use whatever language feels most accurate and affirming.
Here is a starter list of some support resources that mostly offer free and/or accessible services, are anonymous if you choose, and often 24/7. If you are outside these resources’ areas, please search online for related support in your specific area:

This Digital Container is launching universally alongside the Love Letters to Turbulence opening reception at THIS ___ Gallery, August 22 2026, 1-4pm. It will remain active and continue to collect narratives throughout the Love Letters to Turbulence travelling exhibition duration run (2029-08-30). After which, a digital (and potentially a hard-cover) artist book will be created, combining selections of the ‘manuscript’, contributed zines, and works anonymously donated through related workshops.
Any and all images, words, ideas, resources, and events universally created, shared, and offered by and through the Love Letters to Turbulence project, in any manner or form (participatory, hard-copy, and/or digital), are not meant to act as therapy, medical care, and/or advice and do not create a practitioner-client/patient relationship.
As outlined in the complete Terms of Use document, through contribution you agree that you are 16 years of age or older; you agree to have your narrative vetted to be sure it meets the project’s guidelines, and you agree to have your narrative universally shared through any medium that falls within the Love Letters to Turbulence project.
Love Letters to Turbulence is launched from the unceded, traditional and ancestral territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səlilwətaɬ First Nations.
Love Letters to Turbulence is committed to the care, transparency, and accountability needed to provide an accessible-enough space through continual re-examining of the colonial and patriarchal impacts of systemic privileges and power that may show up within, and alongside, this project.
Love Letters to Turbulence would like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts/Conseil des Arts du Canada for supporting this project, and all past, present, and future contributors and collaborators.

Back to TopLove Letters to Turbulence (the ‘Service’) is intended for use as-is.
Through contributing an anonymous narrative, you agree to have your narrative vetted, and shared publicly and perpetually online through the Service, as well as through any other medium that falls within the Love Letters to Turbulence umbrella project.
We respect your anonymity alongside the right to share your story
With respect for mutual safety and privacy, the Service gathers your narrative contributions anonymously. The Service does not guarantee your words will appear exactly as shared, as contributions cannot include specific names and/or locations. As a result, narrative contributions uploaded anonymously become a part of the Love Letters to Turbulence umbrella art project, including the Service, and may be changed as follows: to ensure that these priorly-noted specifications are met, and no hate speech, shaming, finger-pointing, and/or anonymity breaches are added to the site. Words relating to the aforementioned circumstances may be altered for anonymity and/or deleted.
Following these initial safety and privacy specifications being met, the Service, and our volunteer vetting team, will do our best not to change the wording and/or content of your contribution. In addition, please allow room for human err. The Service respects your right to free speech and to express the content of your narrative as you choose. To have a public, communal space for lived experiences of trauma to be held, shared and seen is a primary part of why this container exists.
The Service employs the use of a third-party Headless CMS (backend), to show current content (frontend) the users of the Service will interact with. The connection between said elements (frontend and backend) is limited too; showing collected user narratives shared through the Service and the contribution of a user’s narrative through the Service in an unpublished state. This third-party CMS does not collect or retain any data or information of users that interact with this Service.
We value your trust in providing us content, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. Please remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security if the site is breached beyond its control.
The Service does not address anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect narratives from children under 16 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 16 has provided us with content, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent and/or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information through a contribution, please contact us so that we can take the necessary actions to remove their sharing, as best we can under the anonymous methods for collection and sharing.
By posting content through the Service, you grant the Service the unlimited and worldwide right and licence, without any monetary compensation, to use, modify, publicly perform/display, reproduce, and distribute such content on and through the Service, and its derivatives in any and all media and format including the Love Letters to Turbulence umbrella project, whether such Service and/or derivatives are distributed directly by us or through third parties under licence by us. You agree that this licence includes the right for the Service to make your contributed narrative available to other users of the Service and its derivatives, who may also use, share, repost, and/or display your content subject to these terms.
You represent and warrant that: (i) the content you share is yours (you own it), and (ii) the sharing of your content on or through the Service, and the exercise by the Service or any third-party licensee of any of the rights granted by you under these Terms does not and will not violate the privacy rights, publicity rights, copyrights, contract rights, and/or any other rights of any person. You hereby release the Service and our third-party licensees from any claims of any kind or nature arising from the use of your content as permitted hereunder, including those based upon defamation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, copyright, contract right, and/or any other right of any person.
If you want your shared content and related narrative removed from the Service at any time for any reason, please contact us at info@loveletterstoturbulence.com and we will do our best to remove your content from the Service in a reasonable and timely manner. As the contributions are gathered anonymously, it cannot be confirmed that we will be able to locate your content, and we may need you to provide the day, time, and/or wording of the contribution to search for it in our archives and/or to confirm we are removing the correct narrative.
This policy is effective as of (TBD). If future additions are needed to better serve privacy and security for yourself and the Service, changes may be made to this Terms of Use policy and visibly timestamped.
